The Carpetology Blog Roundup - February 2008

Time for The Carpetology Blog Roundup for February 2009.

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... It's where I post about design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

The biggest news during February is that Mohawk Purchases Wear-Dated Brand. It's exciting and is sure to lead to the introduction of delicious new carpet styles.

Speaking of carpet style, if you're in need of inspiration, check out these posts:

+ Inspired by Las Vegas' Mirage Hotel, I couldn't help but capture on video my hotel room carpet - A Foot's Perspective #22: Wow! Mirage Carpet - as well as the carpet outside my room - A Foot's Perspective #23 - Wow! Mirage Hallway Carpet. What do you think? Don't be shy if you come across examples of stylish carpet. I'll be happy to include them in a post.

+ Thanks to Shannon Bilby, I'm pleased to share with you Carpet Style Trends At Surfaces 2009.

+ Are you into contemporary or modern design? Even if you aren't, do check out Design Reviews From the Floor Up ~ 2Modern Design Talk. You may be surprised by what you see and experience.

+ You have something to look forward to in March. Color and design insights from Ultron Color Trends - Designer Workshops. Next stop is Los Angeles...

From a carpet care perspective, there's Annette's Carpet Corner: Removing Acrylic Paint Stains as well as a summary of the wisdom I've shared on Facebook: Wear-Dated On Facebook With Floor & Carpet Tips.

And, if you're In The Market For Carpet? We'd Like To Help. With lots of valuable tools and tips.

Finally, if you're yearning for Spring or a temporary different reality, you have to read this story about Living Carpet Floors. Ahhhh.

Thank you for reading.

The Carpetology Blog Roundup - January 2009

I don't know about you, but when I make it to the end of January, I start seeing warmer days ahead. That may be purely psychological as the ground is rock-solid-frozen, the lake waters covered with at least ten inches of ice [or so I was told when I walked with trepidation across last weekend], and there's snow as far as the eye can see! Nonetheless, the days have noticeably lengthened and the sunlight has a 'kickier' attitude to it. So there!

Before heading off to Surfaces on Monday, I thought I would recap in this Roundup for The Carpetology Blog what took place during January 2009...

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

From a design, fashion and carpet style inspiration perspective, I have several gems for you!

Two resources definitely worth checking out: Design Reviews From The Floor Up ~ Surroundings and Sensational Color For Your Home about what my friend Kate Smith has created around color.

Two episodes of A Foot's Perspective that celebrate fun, fashiony carpet that I've discovered in hotels. And, I'm not talking chichi, stratospheric hotels. I'm talking regular, for the budget-conscious-traveler type hotels: A Foot's Perspective #21 - Wow Dallas Carpet! and A Foot's Perspective #20 - Another Wow! Carpet Style. Should you be so inclined, I welcome photos and videos of cool carpet you come across in your travels...

I'm delighted that my friend and colleague, Greer Leisz, has decided to meld her love of shoes with her passion for carpet. Check out Greer's Carpet Fashion Underfoot: Urban Links Carpet Style and Greer's Carpet Fashion Underfoot: Touch of Heaven Carpet Style. I hope it makes you want to check out what's in your closet and how it matches up with what's on your floor.

And, then, there's dreamy Inspiring Carpet Styles from Fabrica. Ahhhhh.

I hope you enjoyed the Inauguration as much as I did. Here's how it moved me from a carpet perspective: Carpet & The Obama Presidency - Part I, Carpet and the Obama Presidency Part II and Obama Inauguration Reinvents Red Carpet.

If you make it to Montana, be sure to check out a carpet exhibit that will take you places: In The News: Magic Carpets Exhibit, Paris Gibson Square Museum, Montana.

And, on a practical, but very useful note, check out Annette's Carpet Corner: Claim & Warranty Reference Information.

Thank you for reading. Go SuperBowl XLIII, have a wonderful February, and may the Groundhog see something of interest!

The Carpetology Roundup - November 2008

It's December already, with much to look forward to.

This Wednesday, 12/3/2008, the tree at Rockefeller Center lights up and formally launches the New York City Holiday season. My daughter has already started petitioning me for an outing to admire the Holiday windows at Lord & Taylor, Macy's, Saks and Bergdorf Goodman and along 5th Avenue...

That same day, we will honor the 2008 Doc Award competition winners.

There's also a milestone coming up at the end of the month for The Carpetology Blog... Can you guess what it is?

While you think about it, here is The Carpetology Blog Roundup for November, 2008!

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

This past month, here's what happened at The Carpetology Blog...

We gave thanks in Happy Thanksgiving! and Groundswell Reviews & Carpetology Testimonials - Thank You.

We covered carpet basics in Understanding Carpet: Quality, Understanding Carpet: Benefits and The History and Science of Carpet.

We offered election coverage - both pre- and post - in Red, White, Carpet and the Elections and Post-Election Carpet All Wrapped Up.

Carpet design inspiration remains critically relevant. Imagine what we discovered in A Foot's Perspective - Episode 17: Wow Carpet!, Design Reviews from the Floor Up ~ Another Shade of Grey and A Foot's Perspective - Episode 16: The Wear-Dated Office! Yes, lots of carpet inspiration.

Finally, carpet care matters tremendously, too. In Annette's Carpet Corner: How To Remove Grease On Carpet, we tackled a frustrating stain.

Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful December!

The Carpetology Roundup - October 2008

What a month October 2008 has been! And because of Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Cleaning Out Forgotten Spaces Around Us, what a week!

Time, then, for The Carpetology Blog Roundup for October, 2008!

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

During October, here's what happened at The Carpetology Blog...

First, Bathroom Blogfest '08. This marks the first year that The Carpetology Blog has participated. Many thanks to Elizabeth Hise for being so actively involved with me.

+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Cleaning Up Forgotten Spaces Around Us
+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Potty Parity
+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - How Hotels Inspire Me
+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Great Flooring Store Examples
+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Art of Living
+ Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Critical Resources For When You're On The Go [Carpet Shopping?]
+ For the sake of completeness, Bathroom Blogfest '08 - Recap

We also both took part in Blog Action Day 2008 - Poverty.

Here's practical advice about taking care of carpet stains and maintaining carpet:
+ Spooktacular Stains - Removing the Remnants of Halloween
+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 15: How To Remove Carpet Stains
+ Annette's Carpet Corner: Carpet Patches vs. Redyeing

There's definitely renewed interest in the fashionability of carpet. Did you see the October issue of Domino Magazine Decorating Mini Guide: Carpet? We certainly believe in beautiful carpet styles and enjoy writing about them as you can read in Karastan Carpet Styles Featured on WearDated.com. We also like to share carpet design ideas as we come across them. For example, in A Foot's Perspective - Episode 14, I show you how my Mom does it. And, in Design Reviews from the Floor Up: Apartment Therapy, Elizabeth shares inspiration from another of her favorite design sites.

Stay with me here, but perhaps you would consider Carpet: The Solution for Uncertain Economic Times? particularly if some of those carpet styles feature Wear-Dated, Scotchgard™ Protector & Advanced Protection for Carpet? I think it's worth mulling over.

Finally, we encourage customers in the Suwanee, GA vicinity to visit Atlanta Flooring Design Centers: Passionate About Customers. I really enjoyed my visit there, and believe you would, too.

Thanks for reading. Have a wonderful November!

The Carpetology Blog Roundup - September 2008

September represents such a time of transition here in the Northeast. From vacation to back-to-school, from warm to cool, from outdoor-relaxed-living to indoor-more-serious-pursuits...

It also marks the beginning of many firsts. I attended my first back-to-school night at my daughter's school and met her first grade teachers. I've watched her first three soccer practices and am readying myself for the first 6pm game on Friday evening. So far, no rain - just seasonably cool. Does that mean ski pants or just jeans for me? Definitely socks, probably not yet a hat.

Fall has officially arrived. Even the trees are cooperating with a few magical suggestions of orange and red...

Time, then, for The Carpetology Blog Roundup for September, 2008!

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

During September, here's what happened at The Carpetology Blog...

First, I'm most proud that Carpet and The Carpetology Blog Are On a Roll! Why? Because carpet and the stylishness of carpet are in vogue. Have you noticed? The Baltimore Sun certainly has. I'm not too surprised as I've been having a field day getting up-close-and-personal with more fashionable carpet styles than I ever expected to! Consider a 'Tailored Frieze' Carpet Style. For that matter, check out A Foot's Perspective - Episode 12. I love what my Mom created with two different carpet styles.

What's particularly exciting is that consumers are rediscovering the brilliantly stylish output of the many creative and talented people who contribute to the flooring industry. It's definitely time to banish the boring sea of carpet sameness! Consider this example of intense creative inspiration: Nature Inspires Invision's Altered Elements Carpet Collection. Or, what about the sources of trend concepts that go into colors and carpet style trends - as Ann Hurley describes in A Foot's Perspective - Episode 13 about Maison & Objet. Those types of observations are what led to Black Around The World which is one part of Color Folio 2008: A Field Guide to Color Around The World.

In addition to celebrating the stylishness of carpet, I decided to feature the FCIF and draw attention to what The Floor Covering Industry Foundation does.

Fall can mean allergies, which may lead to lots of advice -- some good, some not-so-good. Carpet advice relating to allergies often falls in the not-so-good category which Paul Friederichsen addresses in Beware of Autumn Allergens… Advice for Carpet.

As you walk through your children's schools, do appreciate the good that carpet offers when Carpet Goes Back to School. I noticed carpet in two sections of my daughter's classroom: one in the reading nook and another in a collaborative work area. In both cases, the carpet defined the space, added to the intimacy of the space and improved the acoustics.

There's humor - Bud Light Does Carpet - and I hope you are following the Red Carpet Reporter Contest results. If not, then Meet Red Carpet Reporter Franchesca Ramsey.

Finally, if you haven't already, Please Vote For Us! Vote For Carpet! The Forrester Groundswell Award entries are still available for voting and comments until late October. [Here's my original entry: My Forrester Groundswell Awards Submission and another plea to Please, Will You Review Our Groundswell Entry?]

Thanks for reading.

Have a wonderful October!

The Carpetology Blog On FloorDaily.net

I had an unexpected opportunity to talk Carpetology this week with Kemp Harr, publisher of Floor Focus Magazine and FloorDaily.net. I had a blast!

Here's how FloorDaily promoted this podcast:

Christine Whittemore, Solutia, on New Consumer Carpet Blog -- Christine Whittemore and Kemp Harr discuss the new carpetology blog and the feedback she gets on the type of carpet information that consumers are seeking on the Internet. Listen to the interview to hear that fashion and maintenance are two of the key areas of interest. Listen at FloorDaily.net.

Kemp asked me to describe The Carpetology Blog - when it was launched, what it's about, what our mission statement is, how a blog works and how it's different from other communications tools. He also wanted to know how we are connecting with readers and what kind of feedback we receive to know which topics are popular [hint: fashion ranks very high!].

How cool is this observation: We - the Women of Wear-Dated - through The Carpetology Blog provide retailers with a window on what consumers are thinking about carpet? I thought very.

Thanks, Kemp!

If you listen to the Carpetology podcast, let me know what you think. Are there other topics your customers would appreciate reading about that we should explore on The Carpetology Blog?

The Carpetology Blog Roundup - August 2008

August felt more like September in the Northeast. And September may feel more like summer with my daughter not starting 1st grade until September 15th [yes, an anomaly; it's due to construction on the high school which affects the school system buses...]. But, with Labor Day weekend happening as I write this, I have my excuse to be retrospective and share with you The Carpetology Blog Roundup for August, 2008!

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

Back to goings on over at The Carpetology Blog...

During August, here's what happened:

August was all about the 2008 Beijing Olympics which we covered in Carpet At The 2008 Beijing Summer Olympic Games and Olympic Carpet Recap. Amazing to witness carpet as the critical and supportive backdrop to gymnastics in particular, and as the opening ceremonies creative surface.

Two posts offered more perspective on Wear-Dated [see About Us: What Is Wear-Dated?] and the tools available on the Wear-Dated website. If you are looking for a useful tool for retail salespeople to offer carpet shoppers, suggest that they read "Before You Buy Carpet, Download This Show Me Sheet".

If fact, the "Show Me Sheet" is what Elizabeth used as she proceeded to the next step of The Carpetology Guide to Buying Carpet - Step 3: shopping.

Design, particularly in flooring, matters to consumers and carpet buyers. In Inspiration From NeoCon, Ann Hurley talks with Kim Gavin about carpet style trends. We introduce a new monthly series about design in Design Reviews From the Floor Up ~ Design*Sponge and count on Sonna Calandrino to showcase Fabulous Floors & Fabulous Carpet Styles!

Possibly the most inspiring summer carpet takes place every other year in Brussels. We capture the highlights in Brussels Flower Carpet 2008.

NOTE: starting today, you can experience a flower carpet at the Biltmore...

Carpet has been in the news with Carpet Works In Amazing Ways and Carpet For Your Tent, Carpet For Your Cubicle. And, I'm very pleased to report that our woman won [see Support Your Local Red Carpet Reporter!]. I'll have more details on that early next week.

Two new episodes of A Foot's Perspective, both taking place in Nashville, TN, site of the Summer 2008 Carpet One Floor & Home Convention. A Foot's Perspective - Episode 10 exposes you to Millennium Nouveau in Gerber Daisy pink, and A Foot's Perspective - Episode 11 talks Wear-Dated Natural Nylon.

Finally, you have something to look forward to with Fabulous Floors' Fabulous Find: Color. You'll be hearing more about that, too.

Thanks for reading.

Have a wonderful Labor Day and last August Weekend!

My Forrester Groundswell Awards Submission

Charlene Li's and Josh Bernoff's book titled Groundswell: Winning in a World Transformed by Social Technologies is timely, immensely relevant and hugely engaging. Have you read it? Have you at least seen the Groundswell website which is chock full of details, excerpts, videos, a profile tool, and a blog? Definitely spend some time there considering the groundswell and its implications...

I believe completely in the groundswell. I am part of it as are all of you reading, commenting, reviewing, searching, posting photos and connecting. We all belong to a new world order. For that reason, I have decided - after reading Josh Bernoff's blogpost titled "now accepting entries for the Forrester Groundswell Awards" - to submit an entry to the Forrester Groundswell Awards. In fact, this blogpost is my official submission page.

Starting around August 19, Forrester will publish the submissions in the Awards section of the Groundswell website. That's when you can add comments and vote, and get even more immersed in the groundswell! I'll let you know when -and if- my entry gets posted.

My Forrester Groundswell Awards Submission

Name of entry: The Carpetology Blog

Name of company entering: Solutia Inc.'s Wear-Dated Carpet Fiber

Category: Talking

Description of this entry: The Carpetology Blog represents a consumer focused weblog focused on all things carpet related. This includes carpet design ideas, color inspiration, trends, practical advice on how to buy and care for carpet, what to look for in carpet, the differences between one carpet style and another... We also include humour, stories about carpet in the news, preposterous tales involving carpet, even art, culture and carpet.

Our goal is to help make sense out of all of the information available about carpet, carpet buying and carpet care, in a category that is generally unpleasant to shop for, where the emphasis in-store is on commodity and low prices rather than fashion, style and experience, and where salespeople often don't give the core carpet-buying consumer [a woman 85-90% of the time] credit for making purchase decisions. Carpet buying has been compared to buying a used car. The Carpetology Blog aims to change that perception and elevate the category.

The Carpetology Blog is written by the Women of Wear-Dated who are passionate about talking about carpet. We have been in the shoes of the carpet-buying consumer and we want to make things easier and more fun. We want to engage with her as she begins to learn about carpet.

Our primary carpet-buying audience consists of women between the ages of 25 to 55 who tend to be in the complex market for flooring and carpet every 7 to 10 years.

From the Groundswell site and the Social Technographics Profile Tool, women in this category index high as spectators [Age 25 to 34 = 121; 35 to 44 = 116; 45-54 = 81]. Spectators, to use the Groundswell definition, "consume social content including blogs, user-generated video, podcasts, forums, or reviews."

[Note: Data from Forrester Research Technographics® surveys, 2007. For further details on the Social Technographics profile, see groundswell.forrester.com.]

We launched the Carpetology Blog in late 2007 in anticipation of the June 1, 2008 launch of our redesigned groundswell-friendly Wear-Dated website. It incorporates social tools for sharing pages, invites comments and rankings of products and retailers and offers robust search. The Carpetology Blog enables us to talk about the carpet content on our website while bringing in other perspectives, or late breaking news and developments relating to carpet. It also means that we can describe and promote the social features of the Wear-Dated website.

Since launching The Carpetology Blog, we have introduced a web video series titled "A Foot's Perspective," [visit our channel on YouTube] relating to the premise of our marketing materials that take a foot's perspective on carpet, with new episodes airing every other Wednesday. We also have Wear-Dated related photos on Flickr.

How does this entry accomplish business goals? Our business goal is as follows:

To enhance the value of the Wear-Dated brand online:

+ With consumers via robust and relevant carpet related content that promotes fashion, style and performance in carpet [#1 search result in Google for carpet style trends with Wear-Dated in #3 spot] and represents editorial quality information to guide consumers as they purchase or maintain carpet.

+ With B2B partners [carpet mills and retailers] by showcasing those who offer better retail experiences [e.g., Lewis Floor & Home, Kerns Carpet One Floor & Home], offer stylish carpet [e.g., Carpet One Floor & Home, Flooring America], create beautiful carpet styles [e.g., Mohawk, Fabrica, Tuftex] and support wonderful causes meaningful to our core consumer [e.g., Karastan].

From Sitemeter, our stats as of 8/11/08 indicate:
+ Total visits since launch = 9,109 averaging 2.06 minutes
+ Total page views since launch = 14,980 [1.7 pages average per visit]
+ Extrapolating for the full year, we conservatively expect a total of 31,300 daily page views.

[Assumptions for the balance of 2008: 480 visits/wk * 20 weeks * 1.7 pages per visit = 16,320 page views. 14,980 + 16,320 = 31,300]

From Technorati, The Carpetology Blog has the following: Authority of 13, rank of 524,130 and 138 blog reactions.

ROI Calculation
- The costs associated with The Carpetology Blog are sunk. The Women of Wear-Dated [including Elizabeth Hise from Hughes] write, research and edit all of our posts ourselves. We tap existing talent within the Solutia, Wear-Dated [and Ultron] organizations and within the industry. Our blogging platform - Blogger - is free.

- Benefits include, based on conservative value assumptions:
+ Advertising value: 31,300 daily page views * $2.50/thousand = $78.25
+ PR value: 16 stories specifically promoting Wear-Dated * $500 = $8,000
+ Editorial value: 19 stories with research/tips/advice * $500 each = $9,500
+ Word-0f-mouth value: 138 blog reactions * $100 each = $13,800
+ Research value: assume feedback from search terms/site referrals is the equivalent of 1 focus group worth $8,000

Total ROI: $39,378.25

Notes:
Advertising value, word-of-mouth value, focus group cost estimates taken from page 113 of Groundswell.
Editorial and PR values represent conservative SWAGs.
Advertising, PR, Editorial, W-O-M values are based only on results through 8/11/08. It would not be unreasonable to expect those to be higher by year end.

Other benefits, not quantifiable at this point:
+ Increased awareness of our Ultron carpet fiber business, programs and people.
+ Support value: better educating consumers about how best to care for carpet; may reduce warranty claim instances.
+ Generating more conversation with retailers about the carpet retail experience; promoting fashion, style and color to carpet consumers [vs. selling on price as a commodity product]; addressing carpet maintenance as a means to strengthening the relationship with customers.
+ Pass-along value of articles reprinted and distributed within retail stores.
+ The existence of digital content the elevates the carpet category for consumers, and has nothing to do with low end, poor quality, price-focused, hard sell and lack of authenticity.

Measuring the current conversation:
We have posted 86 stories and received 27 comments. This does not include comments received via email, feedback received at trade shows or conversations held with customers.

Putting carpet into perspective: as mentioned earlier, consumers enter the carpet flooring market every 7 to 10 years. Once they have made their purchase, the experience tends to fade from memory. As consumers, we may absolutely adore what we have underfoot, and it may do an awesome job complementing our stylish interior, but most of us don't go around actively thinking or talking or writing about the specific product we chose once it is installed - unless we have problems.

Carpet is a relatively low search category. Out of an estimated 308.4 million daily searches, Wordtracker estimates that 'carpet' appears 1190 times [vs. 'iPhone' at 8180].

Also, getting back to the Forrester Social Technographics Profile, our core consumer ranks high as a Spectator, which means she reads blogs, but may not be commenting on blogs. However, we do hope to engage her Critic side via the Wear-Dated website!

The Carpetology Blog Roundup: July 2008

August? Already? How could this happen? What about July?

July zoomed by for me. Good thing I had that beach campout otherwise it would have totally missed me. Still, lots happened in July at The Carpetology Blog, which gives me an excuse to do The Carpetology Blog Roundup for July, 2008!

[If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think... ]

Back to goings on over at The Carpetology Blog...

During the month of July, here's what happened:

On the red carpet front, we had a story that connected directly with the industry: Red Carpet Event: Karastan & Joyful Heart Foundation. Please, if you know anyone who has lived through sexual assault, domestic violence or child abuse, direct them to The Joyful Heart Foundation.

For those of you wanting desperately to Be a Red Carpet Reporter!, did you make the deadline?

Carpet is an important element of World Culture... Can you imagine how big the world's largest carpet would have to be? I couldn't until I read In Search of the World's Largest Carpet... Then, there's Yellow Around The World and Biomimicry And The Art of Nature. Were you aware that a major carpet event is coming up in August? It has to do with the Tapis de fleurs de Bruxelles [and I'm hoping that Solutia associates in Louvain-La-Neuve will be successful in sharing their perspectives with us. This is a BIG deal in Bruxelles.]. We also offered an historical carpet perspective For July 4th: The History of the World (in terms of carpet).

We added to the Carpetology Wear-Dated Website Guide with information on Subscribing to the Newsroom.

After spending time with Flooring America's Etienne Koth discussing and exploring carpet styles, I decided to get up-close-and-personal with several of them in Flooring America Carpet Styles to Consider - Part I and Part II. [Thank you, Etienne!]

Finally, three more episodes from our web series:
+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 9 from NeoCon and the Chicago Merchandise Mart. Ann Hurley discusses the concept of 'contrast' with four carpet introductions from our Ultron showroom.

+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 8 also from Chicago. It offers a quick glimpse of the flooring in the Sears Tower. Well, from one room in the Sears Tower.

+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 7 is from my gym...

The Carpetology Blog RoundUp - June 2008

Amazing to realize that July starts tomorrow! Here in Northern New Jersey, July represents full summer... with sluggish days, the smell of honeysuckle, steam off the pavement as raindrops collide with the ground, impenetrable walls of deep green leaves, repetitive waves of cicada chirps, and corn 'knee high by the fourth of July'.

It also indicates that it's time for The Carpetology Blog Roundup - for June, 2008!

If you are new to Flooring The Consumer, The Carpetology Blog is the official Wear-Dated blog about all things carpet... design, inspiration, care and stories carpet-related. Please do check it out and let me know what you think...

Back to goings on over at The Carpetology Blog...

During the month of June, here's what happened.

We launched a newly redesigned Wear-Dated website: The New Wear-Dated Website Is Live! which triggered The Carpetology Wear-Dated Website Guide: Home Page and The Carpetology Wear-Dated Website Guide: Carpet Catalog I.

There are two new installments of A Foot's Perspective for you to check out:
+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 5 [with Elizabeth discussing The Art of Living]
+ A Foot's Perspective - Episode 6 [in Teacher Emma's schoolroom]

My favorite Carpet In The News story is Wednesday Is Carpet Bros Day. although other gems this past month include Bill Gates and Carpet... What Does The Future Hold..., Getting Carrie-d Away on the Pink Carpet and Green is the New Red Carpet.

Elizabeth shares My New Outlook on Carpet.

Finally, we have added a new category focusing on retailers and their stories. The first describes how Lewis Floor & Home Offers Endless Home Solutions.

The second, A Discussion About Carpet Maintenance With Kerns Carpet One Floor & Home, addresses a critical subject: carpet maintenance in view of recent changes affecting consumer warranties. As part and parcel of the overall consumer retail experience, carpet maintenance matters. The more we educate our consumers about how best to care for their investment, the more satisfied they will be.

Thank you for reading.

The Carpetology Blog Update

We've been busy since we announced the Big News about The Carpetology Blog... making introductions, developing ideas, sharing information. As promised in that announcement, I will periodically share with you the most recent postings.

In fact, here follows one of those updates featuring the latest from The Carpetology Blog.

First, I'm pleased to have you formally Meet Marianne Cone, Director of Passion!

We featured a few unexpected stories relating to carpet:
+ Magic Flying Carpets
+ In The News: Carpet of Peace

Surfaces 2008 inspired us.

For example, how much do you know about silk? Test your knowledge with Marianne's post about The Elegance of Dupioni Silk and find out which new product captures that essence.

We showcase a few of our Wear-Dated carpet fiber show stoppers in The Latest in Carpet Style Trends. And, we've very excited about Marianne's interview with FloorDaily.net. She refers, there, to our "By The Foot" marketing campaign which she describes in more detail in "Feet Appreciate Beauty."

That inspired Elizabeth to share the benefits of foot care in By the Foot...

We can't let a month go by without bringing up color! Ann Hurley contributed Red Around The World and Elizabeth was inspired by Color Me Blue Iris. Definitely expect more.

In case you weren't aware, Carpet Alleviates Allergies. This is a big deal. Too much disinformation exists convincing consumers otherwise.

Finally, we've started on The Carpetology Guide To Buying Carpet - Step 1: Research to highlight resources for information. Buying carpet is not as frustrating as it may seem, and we hope to make that more obvious.

I hope you enjoy them all. Do let us know if there are topics we should consider that we haven't yet.

Consider, too, subscribing to The Carpetology Blog.

Thank you!
